Update for My "Handsome Devil"

So the news today isnt the best of news , but its not the worst either. It seems as though churchill has stopped eating and drinking. X-rays were taken and it shows that his bladder is completely empty. His Elbow came into the shot and its healing quite nice I might add.

We talked to Dr. Bird personally and these were her reasons for him peeing blood.

1. being that his baldder is empty he is forming crystals and they are scraping when he urinates. (ouch)
2. This is rare and a long shot. But he might be having an allergic reaction to his pain medication.
3. It still may be a UTI, but they still have to do blood work.

They have decided to keep him for a few days to watch him closely. They might give him an IV.

Its weird, we have owned him now for exactly 2 weeks yesterday, and come friday he will have been at the vets for exatly 2 weeks . Poor thing, Hes been there longer than we have acually had him in our home. I feel really bad for him. This is very stressfull for everyone here. Thank you all for the purrs and prayers..I hope he gets better soon, so he really can come home and be a kitten. He deserves it after everything he has been through in his 6 months of life.

P.s. Since Dr.Bird figured out he was 6 months old, we thought That since we found him on febuary 5th , his birthday will be August 5th. So a nice summer birthday to celebrate =)

Well it is good news about his elbow - and hopefully there will be good news about everything else soon!

Just think, once he's home for good you'll have tons of happy times with him and the time spent at the vet will be just a blip.

We're still purring our hardest for him!

Poor Churchy. If it's bottering him to pee, he certainly won't want to eat or drink. At least he's being taken good care of at the vets. I'll keep on purring for him and I will light another candle when Bean come home. (I not allowed to have them burning when she not in house.)

We are not by any measure V*T's, but if Churchill starts peeing blood a day after he starts on his pain medication, 'rare and a long shot' isn't the phrase WE would use. We hope they are changing his pain meds, just in case.

Oh the poor thing! We purr and purr for him to not be in too much pain.... We think the good news is that in the long run he will be fine - he just need to get rid of this -maybe - bladder infection. Maybe they could change his pain medication if he might be allergic? We are purring and purring but we hope that with donations and auctions and everything the green papers also will come in? Do we need to double our efforts?

I really hope that the vet can figure out what's wrong with Churchill's pee soon, so he can start to get better. I continue to pray for him.

We will be keeping Churchill in our prayers, too.

My daughter went through this (crystals in the urine, etc.) with her beautiful cat Cabernet in 2003, and he pulled through. She feeds him only special food and mixes it with water to make sure he gets enough water in his system. She checks his "output" every single day to make sure he stays "back to normal." With her vigilance, Cabbie is thriving: http://katscatoftheday.blogspot.com/2007/04/cabernet.html

Purring and praying that Churchill comes through, too...
